Ipswich 0-2 Liverpool: Gravenberch shines in perfect start for Slot
Goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah ensured Liverpool got off to a winning start in the Premier League.
Liverpool made a winning start to the new Premier League season as they beat Ipswich Town 2-0.
After an untidy first half that the newly promoted hosts arguably edged, Arne Slot’s men turned it on in the second to run out comfortable victors.
The opener came in the 60th minute, Diogo Jota passing the ball home after great work from Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King then got on the scoresheet himself five minutes later, poking home after being played in intricately by Dominik Szoboszlai.
That was enough to ensure the Reds claimed all three points in Slot’s first game as a Premier League manager.
So many positives to take
Liverpool fans had every right to be concerned after the opening 45 minutes of the new season saw their side stymied by an inevitably full-throttle Ipswich.
Yet those initial problems only made the second half all the more enjoyable given what the upturn in performance said about both the new manager and the squad at his disposal.
